It has been linked to an increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease and renal disease. Prediabetes is a condition of increased blood sugar that does not yet match the criteria for a diagnosis of type II diabetes but is thought to raise the risk of problems connected to hyperglycemia and is present in many people before they develop type II diabetes.
