(Answered) NURS 6512 Week 11 Lab Assignment; Ethical Concerns

COURSE

NURS 6512 Advanced Health Assessment and Diagnostic

Patient Scenario: The parents of a 16-year-old male is seen for his required physical examination before starting sports. His parents are opposed to him receiving any vaccines.

ANSWER

To begin the examination, I would start with a medical history and ask if he has noticed any unfamiliar changes as well as if he has any concerns. In addition, I would ask the parent in the room if he or she has any concerns as well. Furthermore, I would inquire about any medications he is on as well as other herbal supplements and vitamins. I would gather the patient’s history, perform a patient head to toe assessment, as well as address any concerns of the patient or parent. Although I am aware of the patient’s parents being opposed to vaccines, I would still ask if the patient has had his childhood immunizations and/or vaccines. As a practicing nurse practitioner, it is my duty to educate on the importance of vaccines and immunizations. “Childhood vaccines save about three million lives a year by providing them with the antibodies needed to fight against very dangerous diseases such as measles, polio, or pneumonia (Pierannunzio et al., 2022, para 6).”………..please click the icon below to purchase full answer at $10
